In “West – an Human Tale – part 1,” Riccardo Lopez (aka White Rabbit) combines acrylic brushwork, spray paint, and a collage aesthetic to examine the contradictions of Western culture. The painting bursts with energy and layered meaning, drawing the viewer into a chaotic yet deliberate exploration of themes like identity, consumerism, and dominance. Key elements such as the cigar-smoking figure with bunny ears, the tiger, pin-up girls, and astronauts juxtapose symbols of strength, allure, and exploration against a backdrop reminiscent of the American flag. The graffiti-style “Cheers” at the bottom adds a satirical nod to indulgence and excess. Lopez’s vibrant palette and dripping textures lend an emotional urgency to the work, encouraging reflection on the stories and myths we construct about power, progress, and freedom.
